Welcome!
Hi, my name is Diane Permenter and welcome to my art studio.
Where art comes to life, sweet memories last forever, and the flowers never die. My art studio is above our garage in Benton Arkansas. I’ve been married to my husband for 38 years, have two adult children, and we all run a family commercial excavation business together.
When thinking about buying artwork, here are some questions to ask yourself:
What inspires you when buying art?
What colors are you attracted to?
Does this painting draw me in?
Does it add warmth, color, or charm to your home?
“Paintings are illustrations from the heart,
they illuminate what’s inside.”
My studio is truly a place of inspiration with its abundant windows that overlook the woods, light-colored walls, and easily accessible painting easels and supplies. It’s definitely a place where creativity inspires. The studio also welcomes helpers in the form of my dog, Dozer, and my grand dogs. I found my love of art during my teens. I’m a self-taught artist who has learned tips and techniques from local artists as well as online classes. Additional education, from talented individuals, helps me broaden my horizon and enhances my artistic journey. My painting style has evolved throughout my artistic life, it has gone from being very detailed to more of a loose style with a twist of impressionism. I appreciate the freedom of expression in paintings versus following rules. I love to dip my brush into Permanent Rose, Prussian blue, magenta, and some bright sunny yellows, but my obsession is the color purple. It’s my absolute favorite color and I seem to add it to every painting, especially by mixing it in with darker hues to add an extra pop of color. My favorite is oil paints utilizing the technique of alla prima wet on wet. Using transparent colors as a base gives the appearance of stained-glass. I then apply opaque paints to the wet base layer, wiping the paintbrush after each stroke. I also enjoy painting with watercolors. The transparency and fluidity are a satisfying contrast to oil painting. My passions are painting floral, landscape, and nature. Inspiration comes from the nature that surrounds my lovely home, in addition to wonderful trips with my husband. I’m constantly taking photos on my phone! I also pickup flowers at the market and arrange them in different containers which allows me to make note of small details on the petals and leaves. My goal, through expression of my art, is to be able to showcase the beauty of our world with color, warmth, and charm. I hope that my art connects with you in a wonderful way so that you may imagine it in your home. Whether hanging on a wall, added to a bookshelf, or displaying on a small or large floor easel. The options are truly limitless! Several years ago, I started adding a heart after my signature because each painting holds a special place in my heart. My personal mantra is “paintings are illustrations from the heart, they illuminate what’s inside.” So, grab some sweet tea, coffee, soda, or whatever your jive is and sit back and sit back and breathe in the beauty all around.
